Terms of Use
Effective 10 October 2026
These terms govern your use of the Kioku app and the kioku.tech website (“Kioku”), operated by Ilia Snimshchikov (“we”, “us”). By using Kioku you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Kioku.
1. Using Kioku
Kioku is a language-learning app. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it for your own, non-commercial learning, in line with these terms and the rules of the store you got it from.
2. Your account
- You can use Kioku without an account; an account is needed to sync progress across devices.
- Keep your login details secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- Give accurate information, and use an email address you control — we send login-related codes there.
- You can delete your account at any time (Profile → Delete account, or see kioku.tech/delete-account).
3. Acceptable use
Don't misuse Kioku. In particular, don't:
- try to break, overload, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to the app, servers or other users' data;
- scrape or bulk-download content, or use automated means to access the service, except through the app itself;
- use Kioku for anything unlawful.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
4. Content
Kioku, its design, code and learning content belong to us or our licensors. Some dictionary data and example content may come from third-party sources under their own licences. Your learning data is yours; you give us permission to store and process it only to provide the service, as described in the Privacy Policy.
5. Beta versions and changes
Kioku is under active development. Beta builds may contain bugs. We may add, change or remove features, and may update the app automatically. We'll try to give notice before discontinuing the service and to let you keep your learning data.
6. No warranty
Kioku is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties — for example that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will help you reach a particular level of Japanese.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, arising from your use of Kioku. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
8. Ending
You may stop using Kioku and delete your account at any time. We may end or suspend access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app. Continuing to use Kioku after a change means you accept the new terms.
